Just to say that I hope everyone has had a good year this year, and with only 1 and a half hours of 2015 left, let us hope that 2016 will be a great year for everyone!
Happy New Year to everyone on TBAAJ!

Happy new year @spotify95 @Zak @coleslaw etc etc.
I'm surprised there is no thread on TSR games counting up or down to a certain point before 2016 starts!

Managed to save a fellow TSR'ian about £320 after they decided to repair their own laptop instead of replacing it with a similar spec'd model. Fantastic

Can I run over the Straight Dope Message Boards servers with a bus because you didn't get any reputation for that?![]()

Of course you can - do what you like to the SDMB!
Btw, don't crush an iPhone 6S!

And can I throw my old TV at whoever left you the too many infractions to list reason when they axed one of your SD puppets because forum games on TSR has never been the same since my demise?

Well, I tried playing a small joystick based game a while back (one of these Namco Plug & Play games) and it looked much worse on our new 43 inch HD TV, compared to my older 15 inch LCD TV.
Probably because these sort of thing were designed for older, smaller, non HD displays.
I guess these would have looked alright on a CRT... but often, in my experience, if it works on a CRT, it'll work on something else as well.
In my opinion, the only thing that CRTs are useful for, is stuff like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arbCJ2_Cv5s&list=PLk2u6mg7FxNjosRd5D0E-jgnifnQmR47b&index=108
but yeah for casual gaming anything that was for viewing on a CRT would be fine on newer TVs, however for competitive games where inputs to the frame matter a CRT will give a better performance. It's why they still use CRTs for Super smash bros melee tournaments almost 20 years on lucozadesp0rt wrote:spotify95 wrote:lucozadesp0rt wrote:CRTs are still useful for playing old games like gamecube, ps1, dreamcast etc. it has less input lag than LCDs and LED
