Of Mice and Men?

I still have my copy of that book, you know! We did that back in 2010/2011 as part of my GCSE English :)

Hehe What else? :p

Woahhhh thats fab :gah:
Waitttt you guys got a full novel!?! omgggg :gah: we only had anthology :moon: but as a bibliophile i did manage find online copies from where the excerpts are taken :D

(i used to collect school books but with the recent shifting i had to abandon them :o )

They recommended to us that we buy a copy of the novel - so we did :p and I still have it (plus, I can't sell it on anyway because I needed to annotate inside it so that I can remember what I needed to for the coursework - i.e. what the key points were and what they mean).

Don't know what else I have left from GCSEs :p

I see :)
Ah I thought they could still be sold especially due to annotations (cause some of us might be lazy :p )
Annotations were something i struggled lmao :o

Hehe you'd be in for surprise :p

They would therefore only be useful for GCSE students who are still studying Of Mice And Men - assuming that is still one of the books covered in GCSE English!

haha, maybe ;)

It'll end whenever we want it to end, if it's anything like CTAM then it'll get so big that it'll crash the website :p

I still have no faith whatsoever in PT completing CTAM in one part... when I last checked, there were over 200k posts left to go, and the website has been struggling (due to the size of the thread) ever since it got to about 500k. Why couldn't he split it into four 250k parts?!

I know what I'd do if I was the site owner... I'd do something sensible (not like TSR where a new part is required every 10k posts), but not put the entire site at risk due to a couple of large threads crashing it. Maybe 20 x 50k threads, or 10 x 100k threads would be the ideal balance between performance and visibility / convenience.

Whenever! :gah:

Given that we're currently at approx. 2500 posts on this thread, we've got a long way to go before we even need to think about splitting this into different parts :p

Possibly endless :p

Well, here's another to add to the tally :)

Also I'm not just looking at printers now, I'm also looking at old Sky or Virgin Media boxes too, because they have hard drives in them which can be salvaged for use in a PC :)

yeah :cookie:

Ooh that's nice..wait whats Sky/ Virgin Media boxes?

Indeed :)

Sky is a TV system used in the UK that uses satellite signals, whereas Virgin Media is the UK's cable TV provider.
Both companies allow you to record live TV and watch it at a later date - so will contain a hard drive of some sort.
If I can get the recording boxes cheap enough, I can take the hard drives out and have a cheap way of storing more data for a PC etc.

You can never have too many computer hard drives - e.g. for backing up, additional storage space, transferring large amounts of data between PCs, etc etc. :)

Oooh I see.. recording it is really cool feature imo  (ah yes i remember the video linked on
TSR :) )

Out of the box thought aye  a bonafide win-win :gah: (profit + lowering digital waste)

Well good news! Since the last update, I now have:

4x 500GB hard drives from various recording boxes (including 2x hard drives from before lockdown)
1x 500GB Sky recording box en route
1x 1TB Sky recording box en route

The 1TB hard drive is going into my desktop tower PC :)

indeed, recording shows to watch at a later time is great, but if anything happens to the box, you lose your recordings :(

Aye Noice assemblage :D  :D

Coolio :gah:

Ohh so that'd be one of the disadvantages hmm ://

Yep, so you can't replace all of your videos and DVDs with recorded programs from Sky or Virgin Media, because otherwise if you ever leave to go to another provider, you'll lose whatever recorded programs you had (as they won't let you watch any of your shows without being a customer).

and as far as I'm aware, there is no way of getting the programs off the hard drive and into a format that can play on PCs etc.

To be honest, I don't know what books I currently have - I'll have to check at some point! Though having said that, I don't read books that much nowadays because everything is done on a computer or phone :D
